A Little About Fort Worth

Fort Worth is the sixth-largest city in the U.S. state of Texas, located about 30 miles west of Dallas on the West Fork Trinity River. Fort Worth was built out of the mixed-grass prairie. The original fort was constructed on the highest bluff over the Trinity River, above the best low water crossing point.

Fort Worth is portrayed as more old-fashioned and laid-back than Dallas, personifying the wild west and the cattle industy. Known as "Cowtown" for its rough-and-rowdy roots, Fort Worth still celebrates its colorful Western heritage today. With a friendly population of half a million people, Fort Worth is consistently ranked among the top places in the nation to work, live, and do business by national magazines like Money, Fortune, and Newsweek.

Alcon, American Airlines, Americredit, Bombay Company, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, Carter & Burgess, Pier 1 Imports, Freese and Nichols Inc, Quicksilver Resources, Radio Shack, and XTO Energy are headquartered in Fort Worth. FUNimation is headquartered in nearby North Richland Hills. Other major employers include Bell Helicopter Textron, Lockheed Martin, and Motorola.
