Need guidance: What's the deal with dorm living at Sam Houston State University?

Still proudly bleeding maroon even though it's been hot minute since graduated from Texas A&M in '85. God bless College Station, am right? But I'm not here to reminisce about the good ol' days at least not this time. I've got my niece gearing up to head off to Sam Houston State University come fall. She's dead set on the whole dorm living experience and as protective uncle, you can't blame me for wanting to scope out the lay of the land before she moves in, right? So, what's the deal with dorm living at this school? Are we talking communal bathrooms and bunk beds or have things gotten bit fancier since my day?

And what about roommate situations? Any advice or tips on how to tackle any potential conflicts that might spring up? Now shifting gears little. Thinking back to my own college days at University of North Texas (yes, yes, I've been around the block), student organizations really helped shape who am today. It was through these groups that learned leadership skills and made some lifelong friends. Is that still the case nowadays? I'm sure my niece would love getting involved in similar organizations at the program but I'd hate for her to join just for the sake of it.

So, are there any clubs or societies you guys would particularly recommend? Anything unique or standout that screams “the campus State”?
