I'm from Houston. 2.3 million people. Schreiner University is in Kerrville. Population 25,000. That's not a city. That's a large neighborhood.
I visited last spring. The campus is pretty — hills, trees, quiet. But quiet scares me. I'm used to noise. I'm used to options. Restaurants open at midnight. Music venues. Museums. Everything.
Kerrville has... a main street. A few cafes. A river you can float on.
The student who gave me the tour said: "You'll either love the quiet or hate it. There's no in-between."
I don't know which I am.
I want to focus on my studies. I'm an art history major — I need to read and write, not party. But I also need stimulation. New things to see. New people to meet.
Will I go crazy in Kerrville? Or will I thrive?
