I'm a psychology major at UT Tyler and want to get research experience before grad school. A student review said: “The psych department is small, so you get individual attention. Professors are open to students joining their labs.” Another said: “There are research opportunities, but you have to ask. They don't come to you.” I'm nervous about cold-emailing professors. How do I approach them without sounding like I'm just trying to pad my resume? What do professors look for in undergraduate researchers? For current UT Tyler students, how did you find your research position?
