Hope everyone's having good one. So, I've been teaching English Lit over at the University of Houston for, gosh, must be about years now. Seen lot of change in our higher education system over the years and it's been quite the journey, tell ya!. But hey, that's not what I'm here to chat about today. My nephew recently got admitted to the University of Texas at Dallas can't tell you how proud we all are!. He's set his heart on majoring in Computer Science. Not my area of expertise, confess (Jane Austen never did write much about machine learning algorithms), but I'd love to get sense of what he's stepping into. I've heard great things about their program ranking high nationally, pumping out grads who go onto big-name companies, and all that jazz.
Can anyone here give me some inside scoop? Maybe you're current student or alum? What are the professors like? And how about the course load is it as heavy as they say? And while we're on the subject, anyone know anything about their research opportunities? My nephew is keen on getting some hands-on experience, and it'd be swell if he could work with faculty on cutting-edge stuff. Switching gears bit but still relevant he's also an outdoorsy type.
Loves his hiking and camping trips.
