I'm facing some bumps with transfer credits, financial aid, and the big adjustment to university life. Can any fellow Texans share their thoughts on college wellness programs in Texas? How are the resources for mental health support and stress management at your universities? Any tips for a practical and determined student like me trying to navigate this new territory? Appreciate any insights, folks!
ok so i go to tamucc and the wellness resources are... fine? like they exist but you have to hunt for them. my friend at st mary's has way better access to stuff . but honestly the BEST resource ive found is just building relationships with professors. one of mine literally talked me through some personal stuff when i was struggling and helped me find campus resources i didnt know existed .
for the financial aid stress—go to the financial aid office IN PERSON. emails get ignored but showing up with a smile and all your documents? theyll actually help. i had a hold on my account for weeks until i just went and sat there until someone fixed it.
also the thrive at ut app is available across the whole ut system and has peer communities which is nice for feeling less alone. theres also timelycare for virtual counseling if your school offers it.
the first semester is the hardest. it genuinely gets easier. youre doing great just by asking for help
