Hey everyone. Nursing student here, so my life is basically clinicals, studying, and trying to find food that isn't instant ramen. I don't have time to hunt for deals, so I rely on word-of-mouth. Let's make this thread a resource for all Texas students in the big cities.

The goal: Share discounts that are actually worth the trip. Not just "10% off" at a place that's still way too expensive. 😅

I'll start with the ones that save my life regularly:
  • HEB: If you haven't downloaded the "HEB Student" discount program on their app, do it now. It links to your .edu email and gives you exclusive coupons. I saved $12 on my last grocery trip just on stuff I was already buying.
  • Rodeo Houston: If you're in Houston during rodeo season, they usually have a specific weekday (often a Tuesday) where student admission is drastically reduced with ID. Best $5 you'll spend all year.
  • Six Flags Fiesta Texas / Over Texas: Check their websites for "College Night" tickets. They often sell them for like $30-40, which is half the regular price.
  • AMC Theatres: Student Thursdays are still a thing! Cheaper tickets and sometimes a small popcorn deal. 🍿
Okay, your turn! I need recommendations for good, cheap meal deals in the Medical Center area in Houston, specifically. My clinical schedule is brutal.

The Med Center area is EXPENSIVE but there are hidden gems. Thai Village on Holcombe does a lunch special for like $8 that's actually decent portions. Also, if you're at clinicals at Ben Taub or somewhere, the hospital cafeterias are actually cheaper than you'd think and usually have student discounts. Not glamorous but saves money!
