Teach high school math in Austin but earned my stripes at Texas State University. Being part of the educational scene, you could say have vested interest in how colleges are handling this whole Covid-19 situation. Specifically, I've been curious about the transition to online learning at Lee College. Okay, so we're all probably tired of hearing that phrase "unprecedented times. (If had dime for every time.) But it's true! The move to digital has been whirlwind. It's been wild in the high school scene. Some days feel like bad sitcom: students with their cameras off, accidentally muted (or unmuted) mics, and don't get me started on the cat filter incidents. Now, I'm not saying it's all bad. I've heard some rumblings that they've done an admirable job transitioning online. Heard their IT department went into overdrive ensuring everyone had access to the necessary software and equipment even sent out laptops to those who needed them! There were even whispers about virtual labs for science courses. Not sure how that works exactly.
