This might sound a little weird, but I just wanted to share how technical writing has become a kind of therapy for me. 🫶

I'm a computer science student, and my mind is constantly racing — deadlines, bugs, group dynamics, future job applications. It's a lot. I used to dread writing documentation for my code because it felt like a chore. But this year, I had to take a mandatory module on professional communication, and we focused heavily on technical writing. And something just... clicked.

I realized that the process of writing clear, concise documentation forces my brain to slow down. When I'm writing a user manual or explaining an API, I can't just jump around. I have to be logical, sequential, and precise. It's like meditation for my brain.

Now, whenever I feel overwhelmed by a complex coding problem, I take a break and write about it. I create little "readme" files for myself, explaining what I'm trying to do. It organizes my thoughts and calms me down. Plus, my project teammates actually love me now because I leave helpful comments everywhere!

So, here's a shoutout to technical writing — not just for grades or careers, but for mental clarity. Does anyone else use writing as a way to organize their thoughts? Would love to hear your coping mechanisms!
 
I'm a nursing student and clinical documentation used to stress me out until I realized it's actually calming. When I'm writing a patient report, I have to be linear, factual, organized. My brain can't spiral because the format won't let it.

Now when I'm anxious about exams, I write study guides in the most boring, structured way possible. It's like the opposite of panic—just methodically putting information in boxes.

Your teammates are lucky! My clinical group loves me because my notes are always organized to the point of obsession. 😂
